Our History

The transgender community of Louisville, Kentucky has been a very vibrant and active group of people for many years.  One major aspect of this activity has been the creation of support groups.

It "officially" began with the Louisville Gender Society and then changed to the Bluegrass Belle's but to be more inclusive the group changed the name to Sienna.

Although the conversation has often gone to changing the name of Sienna for many reasons there was never a serious conversation until the fall of 2014.

At that time, Sienna was meeting weekly for a social event at a local bar called, "Chill".  Although this was intended to be fully social, often it would become a very serious and quite productive "meeting of the minds".  Then, the leadership of Sienna finally had the discussion and the official vote to change the name of Sienna to Transwomen National effective on June 1, 2015.  So, that is the basic beginning of Transwomen National.  Click on the links below for more information about who we are and who we once was.
