CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Police are investigating a suspected homicide after a 52-year-old disabled Cleveland woman was found dead in a senior apartment complex Thursday morning.
A home health care worker found Betty Skinner dead in her bed at Deaconess Krafft Center in Old Brooklyn Thursday morning, with what appeared to be blunt force trauma to the head, according to police.
Skinner was physically disabled and required assisted living, including regular visits from a home health care worker, police said. The worker had left Skinner's home about 10 p.m. Wednesday, before returning and finding Skinner with "severe head injuries" the next the morning.
Skinner, a longtime resident of Deaconess-Krafft, legally changed her name from Brian Skinner in Cuyahoga County Probate Court in 2002, records indicate.
The apartment's administrators released a statement Thursday saying they are cooperating with police in the investigation "but cannot offer any details."
